Next American Idol

The other day, Karter and I had the radio on to an oldies station. One of the songs played was "American Pie" and ever since, I've heard Karter singing the bit he remembered. But then I really listened to what he was singing, and I thought it was pretty cute.
The real words for this bit of the song go:
"Drove my chevy to the levee but the levee was dry.
Them good ole boys were drinking whisky and rye,
singin' this'll be the day that I die,
this'll be the day that I die."

But Karter sings more of an edited kid's version:
"Chevy to the levee but the levee was dry.
Good ole boys being risky and wry (he asked me what wry means and I told him 'smart')
Singin this'll be the day that I try."

I got a kick out of this and I think it's especially because I have a lot fun memories of this song. My best friend from high school (Sarah) knew every word (it's a very long song) and once she got started singing it, she wouldn't stop. I think it's pretty great that Karter can remember parts from songs even if he's only heard them once or twice. But it does mean that we're extra careful about the songs we listen to. He will take notice of lyrics that I've never really listened to before and it's made me be more aware. I'm glad he loves music- I love to hear him sing.

Weekend Trip!

We had a great long weekend at Grandma Bell's! We also got to see my friend Sarah and her fam! Karter had a great time playing with Lyla and McKayla. Plus, Jaxon is Ty's new buddy- they are only 3 mths apart. We also got to hang out with Kollan's fam which is always lots of fun. These weekends always seem to go way to quickly, but we had a great time. By the way, we love visiting family and friends in Utah, but our trip was short and we didn't get to see everyone we wanted to- so if we normally visit you, don't think we're trying to avoid you, we just didn't have enough time! :)

More pics of my boys

I realized it had been a while since I had taken any pictures (by my standard anyway- I love pictures!). Ty is now 14 months and is constantly moving and playing and eating. I especially love the picture of him standing by the fireplace holding a piece of bread and showing off his profile (what a belly!) He is also really cute when he dances. He has two moves- the shoulder shimmy, and the march. I also love the pics of Kollan tickling him, Ty sticking out his tongue, and all pictures of Karter and Ty having fun together. They love to play with each other. Karter's a great brother and I got a shot of him in his church clothes because he's so handsome. He and I enjoyed our time together this weekend going to a baptism and also church on Sunday- just he and I.
